Oh Eugene. When I think of an ideal college town, Eugene is right up there. Outdoorsy, cafes, culture, lots of open space. The town is definitely focused around the University and

U of O has become a popular alternative to many of the California schools; with 18,000 undergrads and a laid back vibe, it’s not hard to see why it’s so popular. In addition, almost half of the student body comes from outside of Oregon. With a liberal arts focus, the most popular majors are business administration, journalism, social science, economics and psychology. There’s a collaborative approach to studies and plenty of opportunities for research and advanced studies, if students are inclined.

Sports are a big part of life at Oregon; as a division I college, the school loves their teams and prides themself on their school spirit. In addition, there are a lot of intramural sports teams and almost half of the student body participates. Oregon also has a Greek system, but there are plenty of social opportunities outside of sororities and fraternities.

If you are excited about academics and social activities, Oregon is worth considering.
