Williams Tour


Williams college consistently ranks as the #1 liberal arts college in the U.S. Located in Williamstown, MA people either love or hate Williamstown. Williams is tucked away in a small part of the Berkshires and borders Vermont. West coast kids, be prepared much like other New England liberal arts colleges- it’s a long haul to Williams. It’s about a 3 hour drive from Logan airport. Williamstown is a quaint town and the word you hear from students on campus is intimate. The college was founded in 1793; the architecture is eclectic-many of the building reflect the old brick federal style, but there are also several contemporary buildings.

Williams has about 2,000 undergrads, the student to professor ratio is 7:1 and the average class size is 13 students. Collaboration and relationships are a huge source of pride amongst the student body. Williams students love to share how great their relationships are with their professors. Students talk about how the environment is supportive and nurturing.

Williams is unique with its access to world class art institutes, they have 3 museums including WCMA (Williams College Museum of Art). It should come as no surprise that Williams has a world class art history program. The other most popular majors are economics, math, english, psychology, biology and history. All students need to take coursework in languages and arts, social studies, and science and math.

93% of students live on campus; housing is guaranteed all 4 years and only seniors can move off campus. There are many social traditions at Williams; there is no Greek system, but that doesn’t keep students from parties and social activities. Williams is DIII sports school, sports are part of campus life but there are lots of activities to choose from.
