Whitman College Virtual Tour

Whitman is a small liberal arts college on 117 acres at the base of the Blue mountains in Walla Walla, Washington. (Say that 3 times fast). Walla Walla is a small town in Eastern Washington, located 4 hours from Portland and 4 hours+ from Seattle . Whitman has 1455 students, with a Pacific Northwest vibe. It’s a unique setting. The campus is picturesque and even has an outdoor art museum.

Popular majors include: biology, psychology, economics, environmental studies, English,
biochem, biophysics, molecular bio, astronomy, and asian and middle eastern studies.
All students complete a General studies program with requirements in different disciplines. Seniors either have to complete a thesis or written/oral exams depending on major.
70% of classes have fewer than 20 students – classes are challenging but students are cooperative and supportive of one another. Students love the school and their majors.

Whitman has a friendly laid back vibe and attracts outdoorsy students who are ok with a small town experience. The campus is walkable, and it’s an easy walk even into Walla Walla. Walla Walla is small but hosts a lot of cultural events throughout the year.

About ⅓ of students are from Washington and almost ½ of all students study abroad or at other programs in the U.S. 64% of students live on campus and social life revolves around fraternity parties and club events.

Community service is a big part of the school (⅔ of students participate), Whitman competes in D3 sports, has a lot of outdoor activities to participate in including white water rafting, rock climbing and hiking.
